We love to shop (surprise, surprise!), and when we do we prefer to shop at mom-owned stores and purchase mom-created products whenever possible. Even better is when they are owned/created by WhatEveryBabyNeeds.com customers!
We will begin highlighting our favorites so you can learn about these great boutique brands, and hopefully love them as much as we do! Are you a mom-owned shop and shop with us? Let us know and we will feature you too!
Saltbox
When we saw this link at the bottom of a customer email, we just had to click and are so glad we did! We immediately fell in love with these great looking and versatile canvas bags from this mom-owned company. My favorite is the Basketweave Getaway Bag in Nantucket! Even better? They have generously given us a coupon code for 25% off their site, good till July 31st: BABYNEEDS25 at www.SaltboxNYC.com Thanks, Nicole!
Icy Pop Treat Cozy
Another favorite is the Icy Pop Treat Cozy from Mom of 3, Lizzie Sorensen! This ingenious idea is perfect for the summer months and will keep little hands warm while pushing up on their favorite treats. Reusable, the felt stays dry and wicks moisture, while looking super cool! Buy them at LunaLou.com

The Web site you’re presently on has some very cool things. I realize that statement might sound terribly commercial but I get to write about all sorts of poop on this blog, and well, this is what’s on my mind. You see, Penelope and I are going to Seattle to see some of our closest—well, obviously not geographically closest—friends to help celebrate their son’s first birthday. In advance of our trip, we recently spent some time in a big discount store trying to find a gift for little Jonah Bear.
Two words: terribly frustrating.
These stores serve a respectable purpose—various cleaning supplies, paper products, and other such staples are cheap and plentiful there—but if you’re looking for something special, you’re fishing the wrong river.
We arrived home empty-handed, so while my wife and son took an afternoon nap, I turned to the Internet and found the perfect gift. In about two minutes. About two clicks from the cyberspace on which you’re cyber-standing.
Because my friends might read this post, and because I want this little gift to remain a surprise for the remainder of the week, I won’t reveal the specifics of my selection. Suffice it to say it’s a toy. Read the rest of this entry »
We recently had our fall/winter photoshoot for www.WhatEveryBabyNeeds.com, and as always it was a ridiculously hectic day with lots of babies and tots, cute clothes and very patient parents! Our main goal is too always make sure the kids are having fun while we get some shots that try to show how great the clothes are and why we picked them for the season. I think we accomplished our goal (let us know what you think of the new pictures of on the site!).
I thought I’d share a small snippet of us getting a shot of our Moncalin Stuffed Piggy, along with the Sam’s Friend Ballerina Kitty Sweater and Boot-cut leggings. You’ll also see our always-a-favorite stuffed apple by Kicky Pants. It usually has to be pulled out of shots because the kids love carrying it around and playing with it. Our beautiful ‘model’ kept asking to wear the sweater once she saw it and kept looking down and playing with the kitty once she had it on. A successful outfit in my book!
You’ll notice me (not the mom helping to fix the sweater, but the one standing off to the side) at the very beginning holding my daughter , who decided that she wasn’t happier anywhere expect on my hip…no matter what we do, we’re always Mom’s first, aren’t we? And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
